When Cindy Van Dusen attended grade school in Toledo, Ohio she had her heart set on a trumpet. But, when her school acquired a half size violin, they set our to find the smallest 4th grader to play it. After awhile Cindy discovered that she loved the violin.
During her high school years Cindy played in a number of ensembles and orchestras. She began college on a full academic/music scholarship. College was interrupted by family life, but Cindy graduated 15 years later with a degree in electrical engineering from Portland State University.
Over the years Cindy continued to play in orchestras and upon retiring 3 years ago, she and her huband Bill moved from the Northwest to Waverly, TN. She discovered the Birdsong School of Music. She is learning to play the harp and continuing to work on fiddle techniques. She is thrilled to have found the opportunity to teach and share her love of the violin with her students.
